Alright, so I just got the normal/bad ending. Here are my thoughts. I should mention that this is my first time actually playing this type of game, and that my knowledge of Mario 2 is limited at best.
Pros-
-I really liked the villain of this game a lot more than I thought I would. The concept of an exe-type character who is genuinely friendly(ish) to the player is something I don't think I've seen before. Usually these guys equally hate both the characters and the player, so this was a cool spin on it.
-The game suddenly going into fullscreen just in time for a jumpscare was very mean and I love it.
-The "p" and "e" blocks were introduced very well and used effectively. While the chase after this wasn't very scary for me, it was VERY intense and well executed.
-Props to you for continuing the Mario tradition of "random quiz show out of nowhere". It was pretty funny.
-The "New Hill" section really nailed the aesthetics of someone remastering the game on the same hardware.
-The overarching mystery of what's going on is very interesting. I haven't "solved" it yet, but collecting the pieces of the plot is rather fun.
Cons-
-This game is very jank. Not really in a performance way- the game runs fine and the controls are responsive-but I kept running into strange issues like turnips disappearing in my hands and me being shoved into walls. One time I even glitched into a previous act- different character and everything. I thought it was the game trying to screw with me at first, but apparently not. I have zero idea how this was even possible, but it was very bizarre.
-The cutscenes are all over the place in terms of quality. For example, the sprites of the snake talking to the player are very good, but the close-ups of the snake talking to Peach were kind of odd. I didn't know if I was looking at their eyes or nostrils for a bit.
-This game relies heavily on long empty hallways to build tension. While this was effective in some areas, other areas had hallways that were so long that it kind of killed the vibe.
-The password system is rather annoying to deal with, but I honestly have no idea what should have replaced it. It's bearable, I guess.
-I'm not sure if I suck at Mario 2 or not, but I found some of the platforming to be kind of frustrating. ESPECIALLY the jumps on the fish guys.
This game definitely has its flaws, but I did have a very enjoyable time regardless. I am definitely going to shoot for the secret ending soon. Thank you for reading this giant wall of text, if I leave another comment it should be a LOT shorter.
I understand there's a seizure warning, but even as a someone who isn't epileptic nor has a photosensitivity disorder, I feel like the game relies too heavily on flashing light visuals. It makes the game hard to enjoy when it's physically painful to look at, and doesn't add much to the overall experience.

what game engine do you used? i wanna know? i use gamemaker (i am a game dev and i know your game on youtube on videos)
Clickteam Fusion...of which I'm never going to use again other than for short projects. Game Maker will be the thing for me going forward.
